This is the first Bulletin the Supporters Board have pulled together to increase visbility of the work we have been involved in (and plan to be) on behalf of our fellow Bradford City fans. It was clear from the recent survey that we need to improve in relation to our communications, so this bulletin is one of a few ways we are doing this.
You will notice a link at the bottom of this page to join our Mailing List and also we intend to increase the use of our existing Social Media channels quite significantly.
We are always keen to hear feedback, so if you have any comments/suggestions related to this bulletin and other ways of interacting with fans please do let us know by clicking on this link below.
Thanks.
Tony Bates
Chair, Bradford City Supporters Board
The Supporters Board is made up of a varied body of independent Bradford City supporters, who voluntarily give our time to represent supporters views in discussions with the club. We share our personal and professional experience for the benefit of the club and fellow supporters.
The Supporters Board was formed to create a formal & independent channel of communication between supporters and the club. We meet with club officials on a regular basis to ask questions, as well as providing the opinions of supporters on operational matters
Members of the Supporters Board working group gave up their time during the summer to help transform the Midland Road stand concourse.
Following fan concerns regarding the Club's Membership Scheme coming with Loyalty Points, we worked with the club to address this issue and they responded by changing approach and planning to seek feedback from fan base before the next seasons Membership Scheme launches
Supporting the club with ground improvements to benefit our fan base and matchday experience is something we are keen to do. The volunteers gave up their own time to help and the end result has been widely praised. If you want to volunteer, click on the mailing list link at the bottom of the page
Whilst the change in crest was ultimately rejected by the fan base, the Supporters Board engaged with the club throughout this process and are supportive of the approach the Club took in engaging with the fan base as a whole
We are working with the Club and the Football in the Community scheme to create and establish a scheme that allows local Junior Football teams to become 'affiliates' with the club. The aim of this work is to strengthen links between the club and local Junior Football teams. Watch this space for further updates as the work progresses.
Following numerous incidents of pyrotechnics being lit at City games, we attended an EFL workshop related to this issue and are working with the club on what measures can be taken to change this behaviour
We have raised with the club various incidents that have occurred around the ground on matchdays, with particular focus on events as fans exit the ground at full time. This has led to changes in some stewarding practices and also the club liaising with the council regarding temporary road closures.
In the last year we have undertaken a survey to obtain feedback from our fellow fans on what is working well and may need to improve in the work of the Supporters Board. This feedback is shaping our way of working going forwards. We will repeat this exercise in late 2023 to understand the impact and look for areas of further improvement
We have actively worked as a Board for a couple of years now to refresh and expand membership to further represent the diverse fan base. This has resulted in multiple new members and we have also recently elected a new chair and vice chair to serve for a 12 month term.
The influx of new members and refreshed aims and objectives following the recent fan survey will drive this change forwards
We are aiming to raise the profile with both the wider fan base and the Club by refreshing and expanding our ways of working
Historically communication from the Supporters Board has been an area where we needed to improve. This update along with the other measures we are working towards will improve this. We are already finding increased engagement and reaction from Supporters with the changes we have already implemented.
As part of our outward engagement we will liaise with fans and also learn from other Clubs regarding areas where we can support the Club in improving the matchday experience for us all. Early projects may include looking to raise funds to add further equipment and activities for the younger fans who use Billy's Coop and also working closely with the club on the future introduction of WiFi at the ground for fans on matchdays
We will continue to work with the Club to add this additional link between local Junior Football teams and Bradford City. This work will be in conjunction with the Football in the Community work the Club already run. We hope to be in a position to begin a pilot of this scheme later in 2023.
This bulletin is the first of what we plan to be regular updates out to our fellow supporters. As a minimum these will be 6 monthly, but there will be lots of updates throughout the year too
